FAQ

Account & access

Is fs-kite-dashboard free to use?

Yes — sign-up is free and gives you access to the full feature set described in these docs. Some long-running AI analyses may have fair-use limits applied during periods of high load.

Do I need a broker account to use the dashboard?

You can sign up and explore the public sections (Market overview, Geopolitical, News, Blog, Smallcases discover) without a broker. To see your own holdings, run portfolio-aware tools, or use Restructuring, you’ll need to either connect a broker or enter holdings on the Manual investments page.

Which brokers are supported?

Six brokers are supported:

  • OAuth login: Zerodha Kite, Upstox, Fyers
  • API key: Angel One, Dhan, Groww

You can connect more than one. See Brokers.

Can I use the dashboard from outside India?

You can sign in from anywhere. The product is built around Indian market data and Indian brokers, so most features assume Indian instruments. International tickers aren’t first-class.

Data & accuracy

Where does the data come from?

  • Holdings and positions come directly from your connected brokers.
  • Prices, fundamentals, and corporate actions come from market data providers and exchanges.
  • News and social come from public news sources and public community feeds.

The dashboard merges, caches, and presents this data — it doesn’t generate prices itself.

How fresh is the data?

  • Live prices and broker holdings refresh in real time when the page loads, with a short cache window between requests so the UI stays fast. Click Refresh on any page to force the latest data.
  • Fundamentals are point-in-time and tied to the latest reported quarter.
  • News and social update continuously throughout the day.

Numbers don’t match my broker. Why?

Common reasons:

  • The broker session has expired. Reconnect on Brokers.
  • A trade happened in the last few minutes — give it a moment, then refresh.
  • The broker reports holdings differently for some instruments (corporate actions, short-settled trades).

If a discrepancy persists, the broker’s own portal is the source of truth — check there first.

Privacy & security

Does the dashboard need my broker password?

For OAuth brokers (Kite, Upstox, Fyers): no. You log in on the broker’s own page; the dashboard only sees a session token after you approve.

For API-key brokers (Angel One, Dhan, Groww): you provide the API credentials issued by the broker — not your broker login password.

What can the dashboard do with my broker connection?

It can read holdings, positions, and (where supported) account summaries. The Trading bot, if you enable it and your broker permits it, can place trades on your behalf — but only with the safeguards you set.

Can other users see my data?

No. Holdings, plans, chat history, evaluations, manual investments, API keys, and uploaded earnings PDFs are scoped to your account. Public surfaces (Blog posts you publish, your account email if you appear in shared content) are the exceptions.

AI features

Can I trust the AI’s recommendations?

Treat AI output as a structured second opinion, not financial advice. Read the rationale, verify numbers in Fundamentals, and make your own call.

Why do two runs of the same evaluation give slightly different answers?

Multi-agent reasoning is non-deterministic by design. The structure stays the same; the wording and emphasis can vary. Compare the rationale, not just the verdict.

Can I switch the AI model?

Yes — most AI-powered features expose a model picker. Pick a different model if a response feels off.

Newsletter

How do I subscribe?

Toggle the newsletter on in Profile, or use the form on the public landing page. Click the verification link you receive by email — you won’t get the digest until you do.

When does it arrive?

End of day every Friday (Indian time).

How do I unsubscribe?

Click the unsubscribe link in any email, or toggle the newsletter off in Profile. Unsubscribing is one click.

Money & costs

Will I be charged for anything?

Not by the dashboard. Brokerage fees, taxes, and any other charges are determined by your broker and apply to trades you make through them — including trades placed by the Trading bot if you enable live execution.

Support

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Use the support contact in the dashboard footer, or whichever channel was shared with you when you signed up.

Is there a developer / API reference?

Not in v1 of these docs. If you want to use your personal API key for scripts, generate one in Profile — endpoint references will be added in a later release.
